Blue Cross gives back through annual Community Giving Campaign

November 26, 2025

As a non-profit health plan, Blue Cross has a mission to pave the way for everyone to achieve their healthiest life. Every year, Blue Cross holds a Community Giving Campaign each year to do just that.

Community Giving Campaign 2025
The Community Giving Campaign is Blue Cross’ largest annual workplace giving program. The campaign empowers employees to direct their financial donations in support of causes and local nonprofits that are most important to them.

For 2025, Blue Cross associates raised nearly $700,000, benefiting close to 600 organizations throughout the local community.

Matt Hunt, Chief Experience Officer at Blue Cross, said the campaign’s positive impact motivated him to serve as a co-chair for the second year in a row. “I genuinely believe in the power of giving campaigns to make a better community for all of us – our friends, family and neighbors.”

Featured nonprofit: NAMI Minnesota
Each year, in partnership with the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota Foundation, Blue Cross identifies a featured nonprofit. This year’s featured nonprofit was NAMI Minnesota.

NAMI logoNAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of children and adults with mental illnesses and their families. For more than 40 years, NAMI Minnesota has worked to promote the development of community mental health programs and services, change public attitudes about mental illnesses, improve access to services and increase opportunities for recovery.

This year, the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota Foundation matched all donations from Blue Cross associates to NAMI at 100%. Pledges to all other eligible charities were matched at 50%.

A culture of giving back
Miaja Cassidy, Chief Legal Officer at Blue Cross, served as the other co-chair of the 2025 campaign. She said her excitement for the campaign was two-fold.

“The hope we bring to the organizations we support is so important,” Cassidy said. “And for associates, the campaign provides a sense of fulfillment and joy in knowing that our collective efforts are making a tangible difference.”

Giving back to the community has long been a critical part of the Blue Cross culture. This year, more than 80 percent of associates participated in the campaign.
