Networks for individual and family plans

Each individual and family plan works with a network of healthcare providers.

How do networks work?

A health plan works with a network — a group of doctors, clinics, hospitals and other healthcare providers you can see for a lower cost. To get the most coverage for a healthcare service, you need to visit healthcare providers in your plan’s network.

Different plans work with different networks. Only certain providers participate in each plan’s network. Some providers are not in a plan’s network, and providers in one network may not be in another network. If you visit a provider or a location that’s not in your plan’s network, you will pay much more for your care, and these costs will not count toward your in-network cost sharing (for example, your in-network deductible and out-of-pocket maximum).

Be sure to find out if your doctor’s in your plan’s network. You can use the Find a Doctor tool to search for providers in different networks.
