Tips for reducing the impact of stress



 

April is National Stress Awareness Month, a time to think about how stress affects us and how we can manage it. The American Psychological Association shares these tips.

Sleep

Poor sleep can negatively affect mood and cognition. This is why it’s important to have a consistent sleep routine.

Movement can improve sleep and ease the effects of stress. Even just a 30-minute brisk walk can help reduce stress.

## Nature

Spending time outside, no matter where you are, can be relaxing and help calm stress.

## Meditate

Studies have shown mindful meditation can lower stress and anxiety. Start with setting aside five minutes a day.

## Nutrition

Eating healthy is important for your wellbeing. One way to start is by adding more fruits and vegetables to your daily meals.
