Plan information

Knife River team members can choose between two different high deductible health plans (HDHP). Both plans provide coverage for preventive care, office visits, hospitalizations, surgery, prescription drugs and more. Each medical plan offers prescription coverage under the FlexRx Preventive list. Prescriptions on this list are available at no cost to team members and their covered family members. All other in-network prescriptions are covered at 80% (after deductible). The plans differ in deductibles and out-of-pocket maximums.

  • Medical HDHP Plan 1 (HSA Plan 1) offers an aggregate deductible and out-of-pocket maximum. An aggregate plan begins to pay for covered services once the entire deductible or out-of-pocket maximum has been met. This can be met by one or a combination of family members.
  • Medical HDHP Plan 2 (HSA Plan 2) offers an embedded deductible and aggregate out-of-pocket maximum. A plan with an embedded deductible begins paying for covered services for the first family member who meets the single plan deductible. An aggregate out-of-pocket maximum begins to pay for covered services once the entire out-of-pocket maximum has been met. This can be met by one or a combination of family members.

Both plans can be paired with a health savings account (HSA). This allows you to save tax-free money for eligible healthcare expenses. Money in an HSA rolls over year after year and is owned by the team member even if you change jobs or medical plans.
