Supplier diversity

Supplier diversity at Blue Cross is a proactive business initiative that seeks to identify and provide fair and equal opportunities for suppliers that reflect the diverse Minnesota communities we serve. Our mission is to create an environment of opportunity for diverse suppliers through working relationships that yield a business advantage while obtaining competitive pricing, high quality, and exceptional customer service.

Blue Cross is a member of the Minnesota Minority Supplier Development Council (MMSDC) and Women's Business Development Center of Minnesota (WBDC).

Definition of a diverse supplier

To be considered a diverse supplier the business is a continuing, independent, for profit business and is at least 51% owned and controlled by one or more diverse individuals. Blue Cross defines the following as diverse suppliers: African American, Hispanic American, Asian American, Native American, Women, GLBT, Alaska Native Corporations and Indian Tribes, and Veterans. HUB Zone businesses are also defined as diverse suppliers.

Small businesses are defined by Small Business Administration (SBA) guidelines.
