Senior Vice President of Human Resources, Communications and Community Relations
As senior vice president of human resources, communications and community relations, Paula Phillippe is responsible for all functions within human resources, including compensation; benefits; talent strategy; learning and performance management programs; payroll and HRIS; and diversity and employee relations. Additionally, she oversees all aspects of internal and external communications, the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota Foundation, and community relations initiatives.
Phillippe brings an extensive track record of more than 25 years of human resources and communications leadership along with health care industry expertise to Blue Cross. Prior to joining Blue Cross, Phillippe was at Minneapolis-based Fairview Health Systems, where she served as senior vice president and chief human resources officer, and president of network operations where she implemented operational capability for new payment and care models in preparation for health care reform. Prior to Fairview, she served as chief human resources and communications officer for Marquette Financial Companies. Phillippe served as chief administration officer at RBC Dain Rauscher where she had accountability for human resources, communication, marketing, community affairs, and its foundation. Prior human resources experience also includes positions with Piper Jaffray and Fairmont Community Hospital.
A graduate of the University of Minnesota, Phillippe earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in industrial relations. She has been active in community organizations, including serving on the boards of the Greater Minneapolis Council of Churches and Klein Bank. Past board involvement includes the American Heart Association, the Children’s Theatre Company, and the Minneapolis Chamber of Commerce.
