BlueValue plan for 2014

Note: Open enrollment has ended and will start again in late 2014. Find out how to enroll now if you have a special situation.

BlueValue gives you a lower monthly rate. And you decide how to spend your health care dollars based on the doctors you choose to see. It’s for people who live in southeastern Minnesota.

Here’s how it works:

BlueValue plans use the Blue Performance RegionalSM network, which separates doctors and hospitals into levels, or tiers, based on cost:

  • Tier 1 doctors cost you less
  • Tier 2 doctors cost you more

BlueValue may be a good fit for you if:

  • You live in southeastern Minnesota
  • You want a lower monthly rates in exchange for paying more when you use health care
  • You want to save by paying for higher-cost doctors and hospitals only when you choose to use them
  • Your regular doctor is in the Blue Performance Regional network, or you don’t have a strong preference in the doctor you see
  • You want upfront benefits before you meet your deductible, like two free online doctor visits with ExternalLink
  • You want discounts on your gym membership
  • You want prescription drug coverage  (see if your drugs are covered) ExternalLink

Blue Performance Regional network divides our largest network into higher- and lower-cost doctors and hospitals. This gives you more control over how much you spend on health care.  See which network tier your doctor is in.

You're covered when you travel, too, with our national BlueCard PPO and international BlueCard Worldwide® networks.

Blue Cross may change premium rates: on an annual renewal date, when you add or delete a dependent, or if you move to a different Blue Cross plan. Factors that may affect changes in premium rates include the age of covered members, where you live, and whether a member uses tobacco. Other plans may be available to you. We offer a large network of doctors and hospitals. Each one is an independent contractor and not our agent.
