2012 Basic Medicare Blue — basic protection
Original Medicare covers some of your health care expenses, but there are still deductibles, copayments and coinsurance that you must pay. Basic Medicare Blue, a Medicare supplement plan from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota, can help. Basic Medicare Blue fills in Medicare cost-sharing gaps. It covers Medicare coinsurance for hospital and medical services. Plus, you can add additional coverage for Medicare deductibles and preventive care services.

- Covers Medicare coinsurance.
- Worldwide emergency care—eligible services outside of the United States are covered at 80 percent.
- Optional coverage – add coverage for preventive screenings and services not covered by Medicare (up to $120 maximum per calendar year). You can also choose coverage for Medicare Part A and/or Part B deductibles, or for remaining charges above Medicare’s approved amounts (up to 100 percent of usual and customary amounts).

As long as you pay your premium and follow the terms of the contract, Basic Medicare Blue benefits automatically renew each year. The plan is also portable which means once you’re a member you can live anywhere in the U.S. and keep your coverage. - What about dental coverage?
