About Minnesota Health Care Programs

Minnesota Health Care Programs are government funded programs that help individuals and families with limited incomes and persons with disabilities pay for their medical care. Each program has different eligibility requirements for income and age. How to find out if you qualify.

Why you need a health plan

Having a health plan is important. Why? It means you and your family can get the care you need to stay healthy. A health plan works with doctors and clinics to help provide you with quality care.

What does a health plan pay for?

All Minnesota Health Care Programs cover things such as:

  • Yearly checkups
  • Shots
  • Doctor visits when you are sick
  • Prescription drugs
  • Hospital stays
  • Mental health, drug and alcohol health care services
  • Eye exams and glasses
  • Dental care
  • Emergency care

Some Blue Plus members may have copays for certain services. A copay is an amount that you are responsible to pay your provider. See your plan’s Evidence of Coverage for more information about copays or call member services for more information.

There’s a health plan for you

Each health plan has different benefits. If you qualify for a Minnesota Health Care Program, you will want to select the plan with the benefits and services that are important for your health care needs. See plans.

Blue Plus is a nonprofit independent licensee of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association.
