National Provider Identifier (NPI)
Under HIPAA regulations, health care providers will need to replace their Blue Cross provider numbers with a new identifier number by May 2007. Blue Cross is now collecting and storing NPI numbers. Adding NPIs to your transaction is not a collection method. See instructions for submitting your NPI to Blue Cross.
