Sign up to get RSS (really simple syndication) feeds of our latest news releases and updates to provider-related forms and publications. You can subscribe to as many categories as you’d like (see below).
You’ll need an RSS reader (also known as a news aggregator) to see the updates. An RSS reader is a software application that displays news headlines and summaries from news sources (like Blue Cross).
1. If you don’t have one, download an RSS reader to your computer. Many RSS readers are free (or cost very little) and are easy to download and install. Search online for “RSS reader” to find several options. Portals like My Yahoo and Google act as RSS readers and allow you to add RSS content directly to your customized portal page. Some web browsers, like FireFox and Safari, have built-in ability to read RSS feeds.
2. Copy the web address (url) of the RSS feed. See below for Blue Cross’ RSS feed addresses.
3. Look for an “add” or “new” menu option in the RSS reader. Paste the web address of the RSS feed. The news headlines or updates should then appear in your reader.
How often will it update? Some news readers allow you to set up how often they look for updates, and others update daily. Look for a “help” or “settings” link in the RSS reader to learn your options.
