About the program

Recognizing Excellence(SM) is an incentive program for clinics. It’s part of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota’s ongoing effort to improve health and affordability for consumers. We recognize and reward providers who perform well when measured against accepted guidelines and standards of care. The program is voluntary and measurement data is self-reported.

While Recognizing Excellence has proven to be a popular and effective program in rewarding high quality care, we are creating other relationship models and quality programs in an effort to deliver even greater value for our members. As a result of this strategic decision, BCBSMN will discontinue the Recognizing Excellence program after the measurement of 2011 data.

Measurement outcomes

For the 2009 Measurement Year, 72 provider groups submitted measurement data to the Recognizing Excellence program. Of those 72 groups who reported, 69 attained at least one measurement target or median.
